Course Description: The course will study, with the use of the modern tools of exegesis, the texts of the Synoptic Gospels—their similarities and differences—in order to draw out their theologies; their messages for the early Christians and their relevance for modern readers. In particular, the texts to be examined are those that carry the following themes:
1. The Infancy Narratives
2. John the Baptist
3. Disciples and Apostles
4. The Poor and the Outcasts
5. Women
6. Sermon on the Mount/Plain
7. Parables of Jesus
8. Miracles Stories
9. Eschatological Discourses
10. The Passion Narratives
11. The Easter Narratives
